Our story
Ever since we opened the Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis in 1991, our mission has been to return good to the community, and do good for the Earth. Restoring abandoned buildings in our two communities was critical to our ethos; after we opened the Schlafly Bottleworks, adding a solar array made sense, and the project fell naturally into place.
From a sustainability viewpoint, we all need to do everything we can to help to shift our focus and save energy everywhere possible. For us, installing a solar array was the first step in that direction. Growing some of our own food helps, too. You can see the large garden we installed on the east side of the building, forfeiting many parking spaces to do so. But there’s much more. Schlafly Beer is committed to the many missions that it takes to be greener and do the right thing. Read here for more “leafs”, and don’t miss HalfPint!
To paraphrase W. H. Auden: “We are here on Earth to do good to others. What the others are here for, we don’t know.” 😉
